Preparations for 2012 LiMA Fair on Schedule
10.01.2012
The programme for the symposium at the International Trade Fair & Symposium for Lightweight Design in Engineering and Plant Construction is being prepared right now.
The preparations for the 2012 LiMA fair, which is being held together with the “mtex” fair for the first time on 8 – 10 May 2012, made further headway at the start of the new year.
The programme for the symposium will be jointly completed with the trade fair partners during the next few days. The subjects covered will include hybrid materials, metal plating for plastics, thermal injection mould processes and new developments in electroplating. The major themes of the three symposium days are being subdivided as follows:
8 May 2012 Material innovations as the focus of future vehicle manufacturing, engineering and plant construction
9 May 2012 Light metals – an integral component to help provide complex lightweight design solutions for engineering and plant construction
Polymer and hybrid materials and composites – lightweight design leading towards automated mass production
Surface technology – innovations in engineering and plant construction
10 May 2012 Surface functionalization in lightweight design
The keynote speakers will include Georg P. Holzinger, General Manager Research & Development at KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Prof. E.h. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Dr. h.c. Reimund Neugebauer and Dr.-Ing. Andreas Sterzing from the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology (IWU) in Chemnitz and they will present the latest results from research and practical applications.
The detailed programme for the symposium at the 2012 LiMA fair will be available once it has been completed on the www.lima-chemnitz.de website.
We are currently processing a number of exhibitor enquiries from the German engineering and plant construction sector. “We want to take the next step forwards with approx. 60-70 exhibitors. The feedback and responses from many companies regarding the profile of the LiMA fair provide us with optimism for the next stages in the preparation work," says Thoralf Reiher, the LiMA Project Manager. “Of course we will face the huge and exciting challenge of supporting the ongoing journey towards introducing current lightweight solutions in automated mass production processes after 2012 too.”
The closing date for exhibitors to register is 29 February 2012.
KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH together with the Department of Lightweight Structures and Polymer Technology at Chemnitz University of Technology, Dresden University of Technology – specifically the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Institute of Textile Machinery and High-Performance Material Technology – eepos GmbH based in Wiehl, the Chemnitz company Procon GmbH, the Kieselstein Group and Voith Engineering Services GmbH have already registered as LiMA exhibitors.
The mayor of Chemnitz, Barbara Ludwig, will jointly open the 2012 LiMA fair with the Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development, Jan Mücke, and the President of the Textile+Fashion Confederation, Peter Schwarze, at Chemnitz Trade Fair Centre on 8 May 2012.
All the necessary information and registration documents are also available for downloading on the LiMA website in order to enable exhibitors and visitors to the LiMA to make specific, long-term plans to participate in the fair.
